MASONIC MOTORCYCLE CLUB, INTERNATIONAL NEBRASKA CHAPTER #22 Director Brother, Noble Bob Sides Secretary - Treasurer Brother, Noble Roger Miner
The purpose of the Masonic Motorcycle Club International is to bring together Master Masons whose common interest is motorcycle riding, promoting good fellowship, and encouraging membership in the Fraternity. Membership shall be composed of Master Masons in good standing in a Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons. While we welcome and encourage active participation, there is no requirement of attendance or service. We want you to enjoy your Masonic Motorcycle Club membership in the manner that pleases you. There is no other group of Masons with the eyes of the public on them more than the Masonic Motorcycle Club. You will find a much greater opportunity to enlarge your circle of Masonic friends beyond the scope of your Local Lodge. You will be riding with Brothers who are dedicated to the great moral precepts of the Fraternity and who enjoy the great outdoors on a motorcycle We are Nebraska Chapter #22 chartered by the Masonic Motorcycle Club, International of Bloomfield, Ohio. 3-14-05 (barely) Greetings Brother riders, President Tom had asked me to get a mailing out to the members so I am finally getting the e-mail address list completed for a test run. I will eliminate the first of Tom’s requests (encourage attendance at the ABATE show last month. Congratulations to John Jacobs for 1st place Touring with Trailer. Warning, I plan to be back next year). I was unable to attend but hear there was a record attendance and once again a very generous contribution for the Sesostris transportation fund from the various activities of a number of clubs. Maybe we can get a Masonic Motorcycle Club entry next year. Is there a comparable show in Omaha area? Tom has scheduled the next meeting per the following message from Tom: The annual meeting for MMCI Chapter #22 Nebraska will be held April 3rd, 2005 at Round the Bend Restaurant in South Bend. Lunch at Noon, Meeting at 1PM and following the meeting, weather permitting, a 1 to 2 hour mystery ride. This is the last chance to pay dues for 2005. If you need a tee shirt, patch, hat, etc. Let me know ASAP and we will have them for the meeting.

I am attaching a membership listing for Chapter 22. Please take a few minutes to review for accuracy and completeness. If you have any e-mail addresses not on the list, please forward this message and copy me so I can update my list. If your name is on the list and you have not paid 2005 dues, please pay your dues by the April Meeting or pay at the meeting. The chapter is trying to remain current with National MMCI. From Bob Sides on August 13th, 2005
Greetings brothers, at our last MMCI meeting held Saturday July 24 between the Shrine Bowl parade and game, the 10 members in attendance expressed a desire for a dinner ride to Nebraska City next Friday night, August 19th. At that time we tentatively picked the Lied at 7 PM. Since then several of us have eaten at a different place in Neb City that we like. It is PJ's at the Depot. The old train depot and is quite nice and fairly reasonable. I would like to suggest it.
If you would like to make this ride, please let Herby (402-397-1377) or myself (402-421-2545) know by Thursday morning and we will make plans for gathering points, restaurant notification, etc.
I will try to get another e-mail out soon with meeting notes and additional date information soon.

From Bob Sides - August 17th, 2005
PJ's at the Depot address is 725 S 6th Street and is pretty easy to find
if you know where it is.
Coming from Iowa side, cross the river and take HWY 2 Business Route
into town. Shortly after getting into the residential area, you will
come to 6th street. Take a left and in about 2 - 3 blocks you will dead
end at the depot.
Coming from the west, again it would be HWY 2 BR and then a right on 6th
street. It is about 4 or 5 blocks east of the old HWY 75.
Others, follow the directions from intersection of HWY 75BR and HWY 2
BR. (Embers Restaurant corner).
Lincoln riders, anyone wanting to ride together, we will leave from
Phillips 66, 56th and HWY 2 at 6 PM sharp.
Herby, are you planning a gathering spot?
Again, if you haven't already let Herby or I know, please do that so we
can give them a count.

can't agree more. For a rainy night, it was a good turnout. Three
single guys on bikes and 7 couples in cages. Hmmm, I wonder if there
is a correlation here. Anyway, followed the guys on bikes to the

losing and all else was well.

Greetings brothers,
hoping you are enjoying some of this great fall riding
weather.
Brother Andy Lasenieks is President (Captain, ??) of the Rollin'
Plains M/C and the are having their 17th Annual APPLE RUN this
coming Sunday, 9/25. President Tom and I were thinking that since
there are two starting spots (either Star City Motor Sports in
Lincoln or Gretna Honda in Gretna) we could meet up at the first
card stop which is the Conoco station at the Greenwood Exit off
I-80. Sign in time is 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. I am going to
suggest an 11 AM departure time from each location to try to match
up somewhat close at the Conoco station. (Since I am supposed to
usher at our 10:15 church service, I am going to have to see if I
can pre-register on Saturday and meet up at the first stop).
The entry fee is $9 which will get you a door prize ticket, an
Apple Run pin along with "April's Famous Chili" ,hot dogs and
drinks at the park in Nebraska City. Their are also field event
games at the end of the run.
If you are planning to attend, let Herby or Tom or myself know
so that we have an idea of who to be watching for. No
reservations required.

Support the Men and Women of the 24th Medical Evac Company of the On Friday, March 24th, 2006, Motorcycle Riders rode to support the men and women of the 24th Medical Evac Company "C" who are leaving for Fort Hood for training and then to be deployed in Iraq for one year. American Legion, Masonic Riders and other clubs from Omaha, Lincoln, and the southeast formed up at 84th & Cornhusker Hwy. and rode to East High School for the program given at 3:00. The East High Auditorium was filled to capacity with men and women family and friends to show support for those leaving for Iraq. A fine program was given by Nebraska's Lieutenant Governor Rick Sheehee from Hastings, Congressman Tom Osborne, Adj. General Roger Lemke, and Major Rick Gray, Commander of the 24th, Company "C". Governor Sheehee and Tom Osborne wished everyone well and to keep safe. They also gave from their own experiences. Although some dignitaries could not attend, Congressman Chuck Hagel wished everyone a successful deployment. Diana Schimek wished everyone a safe and successful mission from the Nebraska Legislature and said our thoughts will be with you. From General Roger Lemke he said there were three major qualities that the men and women of the 24th had to rely upon. The first, "Focus". Pay attention every day seven days a week 24 hours a day for dangers to yourself and others. The second, "Teamwork". Watch out for your buddies. Serve together safely. Always promote safe operations. Never compromise safety. Keep up with your drill duties to save lives. To the families at home, have family programs where the families get together. Share your families experiences with others, good and bad. From Major Rick Gray, Commander, who also rides. It was good to see support from the Patriot Guard and others who rode to support the 24th. On their deployment to Iraq, let no one forget the 46 year history of the 24 Evac Company from Bosnia, to Kosovo. After the program, Captain Smith gave the benediction. R.W.M.

Celebration of the Life of Garrison C. Avery 1st Lt. 101st Airborne Division The sad thing about war is there are always casualties. On February 1st, 2006, this very fine young man, this young officer, lost his life by a roadside bomb in Iraq. He was laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery. On February 25th, 2006, Garrison C. Avery, was immortalized by his grieving parents and relatives, many friends, and many past and present soldiers in arms, at a church service at First Evangelical Free Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. Many of our Nations Leaders, Governor Dave Heineman, Senators' Chuck Hagel and Ben Nelson, Congressman Jeff Fortenberry, and Mayor of Lincoln, Coleen Seng paid tribute to the memory of this fine young man. It was said by those who knew him about the life he led, from when he graduated from Lincoln High School. He served in the Big Red ROTC at the University of Nebraska. He was accepted into the US Military Academy where he graduated with honors. It was said by Senator Ben Nelson that Garrison had written him a letter when he was 10 years old that he wanted to be accepted to attend the Academy and the Senator wrote back that he needed to apply when he was 17 years old but to keep up his grades. When he did apply he was accepted. It was also said of Garrison that coming up through the ranks, he was always there to help his lower classmen and never belittle anyone. After attending the Academy, He was sent to Iraq where he led his group until he was killed by that roadside bomb. He was distinguished by receiving many medals from his country. He will be missed by the many people who knew him. Another sad thing of the times that we live in are the people who came to Lincoln to protest against what this fine young man stood for. Thank God, they were kept well away from the family and the service by the Lincoln Police and our Patriot Riders. May these people one day grow up and see the light. R.W.M.

Left - Just some of the 200 Motorcyclists that rode in 26 degree weather to the Memorial Service from Eastern Nebraska. Right - The First Evangelical Free Church in Lincoln accommodated all of the over 500 people that attended the Memorial Service very easily.
The following words is to a very moving song dedicated to our fallen heros and is magnificently sang by the West Point Military Cadet Glee Club as was played at the Memorial Service of Garrison C. Avery and I quote:
To fallen soldiers let us sing, where no rockets fly nor bullets wing, Our broken brothers let us bring To the Mansions of the Lord
No more bleeding, No more fight, No prayers fleeting through the night, Just Divine embrace Eternal light, In the Mansions of the Lord
Where no Mothers cry And no Children weep, We will stand and guard Though the Angels sleep, All through the ages safely keep To go to a very fine Website for Veterans and all Americans, please go to this address to hear these beautiful passages sang by the U.S. West Point Glee Club: On Internet search type "The Mansions of the Lord." USMA IN THE
NEWS West Point cadets sing hymn for Gibson filmSong will run during creditsBy Lee Park
Mel Gibson's upcoming Vietnam War film, "We Were Soldiers," has a special meaning to the West Point Cadet Glee Club. The film, opening March 1, features the cadets singing a hymn during the closing credits. The hymn, also called "We Were Soldiers," is a fitting song to complement the true story of about a group of 400 troops from an elite combat division who become surrounded by 2,000 North Vietnamese soldiers. "We Were Soldiers" was written, directed and produced by Randall Wallace, who also wrote "Braveheart," directed and produced "The Man In The Iron Mask" and wrote the screenplay for "Pearl Harbor." The story is based on a book by retired Gen. Harold G. Moore and Joseph Galloway. Gibson stars as Moore, with a supporting cast featuring Madeline Stowe, Sam Elliott, Greg Kinnear and Barry Pepper, who portrays Galloway. Maj. Augustus Fountain, officer in charge of the glee club, said the West Point superintendent received a phone call from Moore, asking that the cadets sing for a recording for the closing credits. Paramount sent engineers and recording personnel to West Point, where they set up in the Cadet Chapel. "It's probably the best location for a choral performance at the academy," said Fountain. "The choir area is acoustically designed to boost choral sounds." The Glee Club was a natural choice for the film, according to Michael Dalling, spokesman for Wallace. Looking for right feel"It was more to do with (Wallace) wanting to have the right sort of feel at the end of the film," said Dalling. "Moore was a West Pointer himself and he was very much involved in the film." The West Point Cadet Glee Club recorded the hymn for the soundtrack last Wednesday. The music was written by Nick Glennie-Smith, who also did the scores for "Home Alone 3," "The Rock" and "The Man In The Iron Mask." The lyrics to "We Were Soldiers" were penned by Wallace. The words include this verse:
"It's a hymn of dedication to fallen soldiers," said Fountain, noting that the glee club was rehearsing the song for several days. "We Were Soldiers" will be in theaters everywhere on March 1. The West Point Cadet Glee Club will perform at Carnegie Hall on March 15 with the U.S. Military Academy Band, as part of West Point's year-long bicentennial celebration.
