Genesis

The year was 1917, our men were being called up to serve in the First World War. .Lincoln Lodge #19, Lancaster Lodge #54, and East Lincoln Lodge #210 were endeavoring to confer the degrees on brothers going to war. Sensing a need for a new lodge, brothers Paul Ernst of Omaha Lodge #288, Ora Smith of Lancaster #54, and James Tyler Jr. of Lincoln Lodge #19 stepped forward as supporters. Time was of the essence and a petition of dispensation was applied for and accepted by Grand Master Fredric L. Temple under the guidance of Past Grand Master Samuel L. Whiting with Lincoln Lodge #19, Lancaster Lodge #54, and East Lincoln Lodge #210 providing the required endorsements. Liberty Lodge under dispensation was opened on January 10, 1918. Seated as Master, Senior & Junior Wardens were Paul L. Ernst, Ora F. Smith, and James Tyler Jr. East, West, & South, respectively. The first formal confering of degrees of Liberty Lodge U.D. were found in the minutes on January 22, 1918. Under U.D., six brothers were raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason and became eligible for Charter Membership. They were Brothers Clement Frey, Harry Higgins, Albert B. Nebelsick, Joseph H. Wilson, Clair A. P. Tyler and Raymond P. Smith. On February 14, Brother Jacob D. Gavenman of Lincoln Lodge #19, contributed one of the Great Lights of Masonry, The Holy Bible, to Liberty Lodge. The lodge met 13 times under U.D. On April 25th, 1918, a petition of charter was filed with the Grand Lodge and on the 5th day of June, 1918 was presented to the Sixty-First annual communication of the Grand Lodge in Omaha where it was accepted.

How appropriate that Liberty Lodge #300, A.F. & A.M. should hold its first communication, under charter, on the birth date of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Mark well this date: July 4th, 1918 A.D. (A.L.5918). On this date, The Lodge opened in form, with prayer, as Entered Apprentice Masons, with the following officers in there respective stations. W.B. James Tyler Jr. , Master, Brothers James F. Thompson, S.W. George C. Mason, J.W. Walter DeButts, Treasurer, J. Lloyd McMaster, Secretary, George E. Brostrom, S.D., John C.Brown, J.D., Herman N. Matley, J.S. and Ernest Gremel, Tyler.

As a closing note, the name Liberty was recognized as having a dual reflection. Not only was the name compatible with Masonic teachings, but was the present time of World War One. The numerical identification #300 was determined by the date that the lodge was created, January 10, 1918 and in sequence by date. Thus, Liberty Lodge #300, A.F. & A.M. acquired its final and official designation.

(These notes were taken from an article written by Brother Gifford D. Mullins, M.M. Liberty Lodge #300, A.F &A.M.)

It should be interesting to note that in the History of our Lodge and in other organizations of Masonry that our first Master and his father had much to do in the organization of Masonry in Nebraska. James Tyler Jr's father was the second Potentate to serve Sesostris and had much to do with the organization of that body. J. Lloyd McMasters father was one of our charter members and was our first charter secretary. My brethren, Masonry should be a large part of Our family's heritage.

LIBERTY LODGE COMMUNICATIONS

This from W.B. Wade Kendle on Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

Brethren,

We have 11 RSVPs for the table lodge set for this Thursday.  The Worshipful Master feels that this is not enough to proceed considering the preparation work that needs to be done.  It will be postponed until fall.  Hopefully more of our schedules will allow attendance at a later date.  The lodge will not be meeting this Thursday.  Next Thursday will be an EA Degree.

Fraternally,

Wade Kendle, PM

Brethren,

I made an error in my last message.

The time for the trash pickup on the 26th is 2 PM not 10 AM as I sent out earlier due to the Bethany Parade.  Again, trash pickup will be at 2 PM.  Meet at the temple a little before 1:30 to car pool.

Fraternally,

Wade

Brethren,

We only have 2 of our award recipients able to attend the scheduled Awards Night this Thursday so it has been cancelled for now.  It may be rescheduled for the fall.

This Thursday we will instead be conferring the Fellow Craft degree on Benjamin Rowley and Jeff Godfrey who are both college students at UNL and part of the leadership at Theta Zi Fraternity house.

This Saturday is the Spring Game.  Thank you to our concession workers: Bob Unzicker, Bob Foreman, Jeanne Bonnett, Bruce Watkins, and myself.

The next 3 Thursdays are as follows: Master's Degree, followed by our business meeting with potluck, then another Master's Degree.

Next Saturday is our spring clean-up of our adopt-a-highway area.  Meet at the temple 9:30 a.m. and expect us at our area at 10:00 a.m.  If you plan on helping, let me know so we can expect you.

Fraternally,

Wade Kendle

This from W.B. Wade Kendle on April 3rd, 2008

Brethren,

Tonight is our monthly business meeting.  We will not be having our potluck due to the amount of food left over from the school of instruction we hosted last week.  We have meat and cheese sandwiches, chips, and pop.  If you would like to bring something, you sure can, but you do not need to.  Family, friends, and prospects are still invited to attend dinner.

Degree work is planned for the 10th and 24th.  The 17th will be our annual Awards Night.  The Grand Master will be in attendance.  April 19th is the spring game.  If you would like to work our concession stand, let me know.  Free admission, free entree, free snack, unlimited pop, and a good time await our volunteers.  Currently I have one volunteer who hasn't worked a game before, Bro. Bob Unzicker.  The rest currently scheduled are willing to yield to new blood if we have it.

Also upcoming is our bi-annual highway cleanup.  I'll send the date out when I know what it is.  April 25-27 is the 59th Annual Midwest Conference on Masonic Education in Omaha.  It comes to Nebraska around every 13 years so you won't get a closer opportunity to attend.  For more info, see the website http://midwestmasoniceducation.com/.

Brethren,

Just a quick reminder that we are not meeting tonight due to the Shrine Circus.  Next week is the Fellow Craft School of Instruction which will be held at East Lincoln 210, 2700 S. Street.  We will be meeting as a lodge at 2700 S. Street.  They are having an all you can eat soup supper beforehand from 5 PM - 7 PM, $6.00 Adults, $3.00 children 12 and under.  They have 4 types of soup, chicken noodle, bean and ham, vegetable beef, and chili.  I've been there before and it is excellent, bring the family for a good dinner.  The school will open at 7:00 PM.

The rest of the Trestleboard for the month is:

TUESDAY, Mar. 25, Liberty is hosting the 1st Section Master Mason School of Instruction beginning at 7:00 p.m.  We are responsible for refreshments afterward.  At the EA School, there was 51 in attendance.  Please come and support our lodge.

FRIDAY, Mar. 28, is the 2nd Section Master Mason School of Instruction held at Cotner Lodge 297, 1542 N. 65th St.  It begins at 7:00.

We will not be meeting the other Thursdays this month.

In April, we have planned our annual awards night for the 17th.  The Grand Master of Masons of Nebraska, Reg Kuhn, will be in attendance.   Degree work is planned for the 10th and 24th.  We should have 4-5 EAs to do.  Also, we will be manning our concession stand at the Red & White game on April 19th.  Volunteers are needed.  If you haven't been participating in lodge, this is a good place to start.  The game starts at 1:00, so we report at 11:00 am.  The money generated by our stand goes to help fund our scholarships and other philanthropic causes.  Let me know if you can help.

Wade Kendle, PM

Brethren,

Next week we will not be meeting due to Valentines Day.  Several of our brethren could not be available next week because their significant other would disown them.

We will be having a Master Masons Degree Practice in two weeks (21st) with a MM degree on Bro. Robert Unzeker in 3 weeks (28th).

I'd also like to take this opportunity to remind you of Reg Kuhn's installation as the 144th Grand Master of Masons of Nebraska tomorrow (Sunday the 10th) at 2:30 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Temple downtown Lincoln.  This ceremony is open to the public.

Brethren,

Here's a quick reminder of our trash pick up today.  This is one of our community service projects.  We will be meeting at the lodge a little before 2:00 p.m.  with the hope of leaving lodge building at 2:00 to head to our area.  Those who want to meet us there, we have 2 miles on highway 6 between Milford and the Crete turnoff (Highway 103), between mile markers 299 and 297.  We should be there by 2:30 p.m.  With enough help, we will be done in an hour.  Please dress warmly.

Tomorrow (8th) will be our Master Mason's Proficiency.  Those who typically help with degree work, please brush up on your parts.  For those who haven't seen a Master's Degree in a while, this is an ideal time to come visit for a refresher course.  We will have a light supper starting around 6:15 p.m., we open at 7:00 p.m.

We have scheduled our fall highway pickup for Sunday, October 18th, at 2:30 p.m.  Meet at the lodge building a little before 2:00 p.m. and we will car pool to our area.  If you plan to help, please let me know by replying to this message.

This Saturday is the last home game of the season (thank the Maker for various reasons).  Our concession stand volunteers are myself, Charles Holderby, Harold Nelson, Bob Foreman, and Jeanne Foreman.  If you'd like to work this game, I can always give up my spot.  I've worked all but 1 game this season.  I also know WB Bob would rather not work but will if no one else steps forward.  The game is early, 11:30 a.m., so we will meet at the lodge at 9:00 a.m.

Next Thursday (15th) we will be conferring the Master's Degree on Bro. Seth Keller.

We will be dark (not meeting) on Thanksgiving.

The last week of the month is tentatively planned for more degree work.

This Sunday is Veterans' Day and I'd like to say Thank You to all our members who are veterans.  We all owe you a debt of gratitude for your service.  Those, like me, who can't serve for health reasons are even more in your debt.  The Lincoln Masonic community will present The Vacant Chair Ceremony at the Scottish Rite Temple downtown starting at 7:00 p.m. on Veterans' Day.  This will be the sixth year it's been held in Lincoln.  I encourage all our members to bring family, friends, and especially veterans to this event.  It is a unique ceremony open to the public.  I will be the soloist for the evening.  While we aren't singing all the verses of our National Anthem, I do get to sing verses 3 and 4.  If you've never heard them sung, they have some very powerful words in them.  I hope to see you there.

Fraternally,

Wade Kendle, PM

Brethren,

Our Master’s proficiency for tomorrow night has been postponed as some of our key speaking parts can’t be filled.  This brings up the need for more of our brethren to learn the memory work.  The memory work is what makes Freemasonry different than other fraternal groups.  Also, if you have not RSVP’d for the Ladies at the Table on Sept. 20th, please do so.  You can RSVP by replying to this message or by contacting Bruce Watkins.

Fraternally,

Brethren,

Here’s a quick note of thanks to our football game workers on the 1st:  Bob Simard, Harold Nelson, Ross Young, Mark Eliker, and myself.

Here’s your chance to get into the USC game free of charge.  Currently Mark Eliker has agreed to work, any other volunteers?  I need 4 more for the 15th, thanks.

 Fraternally,

p.s.  I also need 5 volunteers for the Ball State game on Sat., Sept. 22nd

Brethren,

I had one volunteer step forward due to my last email about our concessions stand, far too few to man the stand.  Now I’m asking for a specific date, Sept. 1st.  If you can help, please let me know.  Some of our usually helpers can not work this game.  With a 2:30 kickoff, we need to report at 12:30.  What has worked well in the past is meeting at the lodge at 12:00, then car pooling over to my great aunt’s house and walking from there.  She lives about 2.5 blocks from the 10th street walkway.  You will receive a free entrée, free snack, and unlimited drinks while working.  There is a TV in front of our stand so the sites and sounds aren’t too far away.  The money we earn from the stand covers all the lodge’s educational outlays (scholarships & donations) for the year.  The downside is we must provide 5 workers a game.  Currently I have 2 workers and I am one of them.  If you can help, please respond.

Brethren,

Our acting Worshipful Master asked me to send out an email about our upcoming calendar.

This Saturday, 5/5, our lodge is hosting a One-Day Degree Conferral.  We will open at 7:00 a.m. and will be conferring both the 1st and 2nd sections of the MM degree.  The EA and FC are being conferred by Hickman #256 and Cotner #297.  I hope to see you tomorrow.

We have our highway pickup on Saturday, 5/12.  We really need your help getting this done.  The last 2 times it has been scheduled this spring we’ve cancelled due to not enough helpers.  We can do this with as few as 4 people, but could really use 8.  Plan to be at the temple at 11:00 a.m.  We should leave for our area by 11:15 a.m.  With 8, it takes us less than an hour, with 4, typically 1.5 hours.  If we can count on you to help, please reply to this message and let me know you’ll be there.

On Thursday, May 24th, we will be hosting a Table Lodge.  Those who have attended one of these events in the past know how much fun they can be!!  We will have wine, grape juice, and water available for the toasts.  This is one evening you can get schnookered at lodge.  The cost is only $10 which includes dinner and drinks.  This is a Table Lodge, not a Ladies at the Table.  This event is only open to Masons.  Please R.S.V.P with me if you plan on attending so we can plan for food.

Thursday night, we will be doing degree work in the Entered Apprentice degree.  We have two candidates at this time and possibly one more.  Dinner at around 6:15.  Please attend if you can for a good showing.

Next week on the 19th, we will be having our annual Awards Night.  This will be to honor our 25, 40, 50 and 60 year members.  We potentially have three members in each of those groups.  Social at 6:00, dinner at 6:30.  This will be a turkey dinner, $10 per person, served by the Jobs Daughters Bethel 27.  The Grand Master will be in attendance to make remarks and award the certificates and year pins.  Lets have a big turnout for this as it is a big milestone for the award recipients.  Please RSVP by replying to this email or call the secretary at 489-4317.  Hope to see you there.

 Fraternally,

Bruce Watkins

Secretary

p.s.  Those I have working the Spring Game this Saturday are as follows:  Wade Kendle, Bruce Watkins, Ross Young, Charles Holderby, Juston Wendt, Dale Luedders, Harold Nelson, Bob Foreman, Mark Eliker, and Leon Kilmer.  Meet at the Temple around 10:10 a.m.  We will take two vehicles over to Bob Foreman’s sister-in-laws house and park in her driveway then walk.  If you are meeting us at the stadium, use Gate 12.  We will have 2 stands in East Stadium, our normal stand, #6 and one other.  Remember to bring a photo id or they will not let you in.  Thanks to those who are helping with this fund raiser.

Greetings,

When I picked Belle up from school today she showed me her new spelling list for the week.  On Wednesdays they get a new spelling list sent home in their Wednesday folders and I could not believe what I saw.  Today, the teacher gave all students 8 words, a smaller portion got 12 words, and an even smaller group (which Belle is a part of) got 14.  The last word on her list is “bibliography.”  Last week her group got “semester” and “January” for their additional words.  Her 2nd spelling list of the year included the word “anthology.”  Please remember, she is only a 1st grader.  She does very well with her spelling words.  The only words she’s missed were the two challenge words on her 1st spelling list of the year.  If I remember correctly, they were “animal” and “apple.”

Since I do have your attention, let me give you a quick update on our family and what I’m doing for a living now.  Our 3rd child is due any day now.  Deb’s due date is officially February 1st.  We are expecting a boy and the girls are really excited (as are the grandparents who currently only have grand daughters.)  As for me, I’ve become a field representative for two non-profits, one is American’s for Financial Security (AFS for short), the other is the National Association for the Self-Employed (NASE for short).  AFS has over 30,000 members while the NASE has over 250,000 members and is the largest non-partisan organization of its kind.  It was founded in 1981 and represents over 600,000 individuals when family members are included in the numbers.  They lobby for rights of the self-employed and have been recognized by President Bush as the premier organization for the self-employed. They are the primary reason the self-employed can now deduct 100% of their health insurance premiums from their taxable income.  Both non-profits offer their members over 75 benefits, one of which is access to affordable health, dental, vision, and Rx coverage.  I’m also a licensed agent with MEGA Life and Health which underwrites the plans offered through the non-profits.  Since you do not have to be self employed to join our associations, I can offer anyone in Nebraska access to affordable health insurance.  If you are unhappy with your coverage, rates, or want a review of your health insurance plan, let me know.  You can learn more about the NASE by visiting my marketing website http://www.naseweb.com/wadekendle  The benefits offered through membership are categorized on the left hand side of the screen, click on a category to see all benefits.  You can also learn some about the health plans I can offer in Nebraska.

I’ll send out a birth announcement when it happens.  Have a Great Day!!!

Wade

The Rock Maul Award 2005

In 2005, at the Grand Lodge in Kearney, Ne. in February 2005, Liberty Lodge #300 was privileged to receive from The Grand Lodge of Nebraska A:. F;. & A:. M:. the Rock Maul award for being the Best Overall Lodge in Nebraska.

LIBERTY LODGE #300 WEBSITE

To be kept fully informed, keep in touch with Liberty Lodge #300's WEBSITE for changes and additions to our activities. The new internet address is:     http://www.glne.org/defaultLodge.asp?pageID=1&lodgeID=168. This Website is being kept current by our Worshipful Brother Wade Kendle, Past Master of Liberty Lodge #300. To get all of the information for Liberty Lodge #300, Go to this address.

According to the 2005-2006 Grand Lodge Program Guide, "The Rock Maul was presented to MW Byron C. Jenkins by the Omaha Area Past Masters of 1966 to be used as a Traveling Trophy.  It is sixteen pounds in weight with a bronze head.

The Rock Maul has been used for its original purpose in a stone quarry, and has been beautifully refurbished and a square and compass worked into the metal.

It is to be presented to one lodge each year by the Grand Master.  The Lodge selected should, in the opinion of the Grand Master, represent the best all-around Lodge in the jurisdiction of Nebraska.  The Lodge selected will hold the award for one year, and return it to the Grand Lodge prior to the next Annual Communication.  It will then be presented to another Lodge by the then Grand Master.

As guidelines to award the Rock Maul, the following will be used:  Officer Leadership, attendance, bulletin or newspaper, ritual, enthusiasm, fellowship, temple appearance and condition, secretary reports, and programs other than regular meetings and ritual meetings carried out through the year.  The Grand Master should never present the Maul to his own Lodge."

For those of you that are Senior DeMolays, this would be the equivalent of receiving the Chapter of the Year award.    It was a great honor and privilege to be present at the annual communication to receive this award from the Grand Master.  Those of your brethren that were in attendance at Grand Lodge were WM Brent Myers, SW WB Wade Kendle, SD Juston Wendt, JD Tom Morrissey, Sec RWB Bruce Watkins, WB Dale Lueders, WB Roger Miner, WB Jim Batten, and WB Ken Rouch.

We truly have something to be proud of.  The Rock Maul award is a great honor for Liberty Lodge #300 and a testament to its members dedication and hard work.  We have come a long ways in a short amount of time.  10 years ago our Lodge was hurting tremendously and now we are named the #1 lodge in the Nebraska jurisdiction.  I know this award was not only in recognition of my year as master, but of the years that went before mine.  At the start of 2000, we had 157 members and at the start of 2005, we had 247 members, a net increase of 90 members over a 5 year period.

I'd like to thank all our brethren both past and present who help make Liberty Lodge #300 what it is today.  A special thanks goes out to my officers of last year that were always there when I needed them and a big thanks to our past masters who continue to support our endeavors.  We have turned a corner brethren, and I am proud of our accomplishments.  Make sure during this year that you come to lodge and view the Rock Maul Award, it's quite the sight.

Fraternally,

SW Wade Kendle

We again will be participating in the Grand Lodge's Scholarship Program for High School Seniors.  Our lodge will be donating $25, matched by $75 by the Grand Lodge to make a $100 scholarship for a local high school senior.  We will also be providing scholarships for 2 Masonic Marching Band Members to attend this years band camp.  Ron Smith will see if the Norris School District has a couple of students we can sponsor.

Watch for more information on MASONIC CHIP and local CHIP events.  This one of a kind CHild Identificaion Program will give our Blue Lodges a much needed public face.  CHIP is the most complete program of its kind in the USA.  The purpose is to provide parents with an identification package that they can hand over to authorities if their child should happen to get abducted.  The statistics are startling.  Just in Nebraska, a child is reported missing every 5 seconds.  CHIP will be made available to the public for no charge.  All a parent will need to do to get an identification package is to attend a CHIP event and sign a permission slip.  A CHIP package consists of a (1)  Digital Photograph,  (2) VHS taped interview with child,  (3) Cheek Swab with DNA and a scent for a K-9 unit, (4) Tooth Imprint w/scent for K-9 unit, and (5) Fingerprints.  This program has been going on in the New England states with much success for a number of years and was adopted by The Grand Lodge of Nebraska for our jurisdiction.  For more information about MASONIC CHIP, see the national website.

                                         THE GEORGE WASHINGTON INAUGURAL BIBLE
Editors Note:   On Saturday, January 20th, 2000, President Elect George W. Bush will be sworn in as the 43rd President of the United States on this bible which will be hand carried from its resting place by members of SAINT JOHN'S LODGE #1, ANCIENT YORK MASONS, FREE and ACCEPTED MASONS of NEW YORK. You may go to Saints John Lodge of Education Page for further History. As this New York lodge is one of the first lodges in America, It shows us how closely our masonic lodges are related.

FROM HIS ADDRESS OF THE 144TH ANNUAL COMMUNICATION OF THE MOST WORSHIPFUL GRAND LODGE, A.F.& A.M. OF NEBRASKA COMES THESE THOUGHTS OF MOST WORSHIPFUL MASTER, JAMES F. BROWN, JR., PAST GRAND MASTER OF MASONS OF NEBRASKA:
During his travels around the state, he learned that their are three essential ingredients of a successful lodge. They are: 1. the presence of a "Selective" Membership program in the lodge, 2. A dedication to ritual and the education of new members, and 3. a strong spirit of Fraternity among the brothers. First, successful lodges adopt a selective membership program. Not every man should be a mason. Two criteria should be applied. 1. Will the prospect benefit from Masonry, and 2. Will he be an active member. These two questions should be answered. Merely increasing our numbers is not just what we need. Active, involved, and dedicated members is what we strive for.

The recruitment of new members does not end with the conferal of the degrees. The real work begins with the education efforts that are directed to the new member. He must feel a sense of belonging, and be convinced that he is appreciated and needed. If he masters some aspect of the ritual, and these needs are satisfied, you truly have a new Master Mason in your lodge. Posting accomplishes these goals and each lodge needs to post these new members so he can become active. It requires a one on one relationship, because education can not be accomplished in a vacuum.

A membership program coupled with dedication to ritual and education of the new Master Mason is the work of the officers and members of the lodge. If neglected this results in the weakening of the lodge and possibly the loss of a member. However, Work without play is not desirable. A spirit of Fraternity is one of the main reasons men choose to remain active in lodge together with Family activities. Community service is desirable but spirit of Fraternity among the brethren are critical. Not every Mason is a ritualist, but every Mason is a brother. Successful lodges promote a spirit of brotherhood among its members.

We must continue to concentrate our efforts on insuring that are individual lodges are successful in our own eyes. Develop a vision for your lodge. Plan activities that accomplish that vision. Encourage all Master Masons to actively work toward accomplishing this vision and the result will be continued success for Nebraska Masonry.

SERVICE to the fraternity is a privilege offered freely and voluntary by members who have had the rare distinction to serve as Grand Master. The knowledge and skill possessed by these members is gratefully acknowledged. When we lose a leader with this experience, the fraternity is never the same. Fortunately, Masonry continues to inspire and develop future generations of leaders. However, we  mourn the loss of the following Master Mason who served the Grand Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Nebraska: Most Worshipful Brother Byron C. Jenkins, the 115th Grand Master of Masons of Nebraska.

                                               FROM THE NEBRASKA MASON MAGAZINE

Reported at the 133rd Annual Communication of The Grand Lodge of Nebraska, M.W. Thomas Tye, Grand Master :  The Grand Masters Recommendation Number 1: In asmuch as the Committee on Fraternal Relations of this grand jurisdiction has, in its report, recommended the approval of a resolution to recognize the Prince Hall Grand Lodge, F.& A.M. of Nebraska, I do hereby recommend and ask for the favorable adoption of the following resolution.

Whereas, the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge, F.& A.M. of Nebraska, Inc. has existed in Nebraska since 1919, and in America since 1775 and does profess the same Masonic principles and ideals of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge, A.F.&A.M. of Nebraska, and whereas, both grand Lodges desire to remain autonomous within themselves, operating hereafter as herebefore, with their own Grand Master, Rules and Regulations, Lodges, and Membership, and whereas, both Grand Lodges desire to fraternally recognize the other as a duly constituted Masonic Grand Lodge within the State of Nebraska. Now, thereby be it resolved, that it is mutually agreed by the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge A.F.& A.M. of Nebraska, and the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge F. & A.M. of Nebraska, Inc., on the 3rd day of February, A.D. 1990, that we will dwell together in Peace and Harmony, and each does hereby extend their solemn Fraternal Recognition to the other as a duly constituted Grand Lodge of Masons within the State of Nebraska, and do, in the spirit of Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth, hereby accord to the other, wheresoever assembled, all Masonic rights appertaining therewith, subject always to the Rights, Powers, and Authority of the Grand Masters and Masters of the constituent Lodges to preside over their respective Grand Lodges and Lodges.

THE MASONIC BAND

One of the best images for Masonry is our Band Camp, when students of band from all over the State of Nebraska, come to Lincoln a week before the Shrine Bowl and perform at the game at halftime and in our Shrine Bowl Parade. They get together for a short time and become very good at their excercises. Some of these kids have not ever marched or performed in front of large audiences before, so its quite and experience for them. When kids leave band camp and return home, they are proud to show off their Masonic Tee Shirts and tell of their experiences at Band Camp.

At the time kids arrive at the camp, they have to coordinate their activities with early Nebraska football practice for use of the field. At this time, they are the largest assembled Band  in the State of Nebraska, 265 participants strong.  it requires quite an outlay of money to support the band during these four days, with meals, transportation of the kids and their instruments to and from practices, and the entertainment that is planned for them. The kids use the facilities of the University of Nebraska for their lodging. All of these costs are borne by the members of the Masonic Lodges from all over the state. Each lodge sponsors band members and donates for their support. There is always a need for more sponsors. While they are here, the members have to be chaperoned by adults, who help the kids transport their instruments and see their needs are taken care of. The Grand Lodge asks for more help from the Lodges for their time and service to one of Masonry's finest organizations, The Masonic All-Star Band.
