FROM S.K. DAN LONGLEY ON FEBRUARY 1ST, 2009

Sir Knights,

There will be an informal meeting on Saturday morning at 11:00AM in the Scottish Rite Temple to discuss ideas for future events concerning the KSA. Rolls and coffee will be made available for those who do come. This is open to all Knights.

Hope to see as many Knights as possible at the meeting. It will not last long, it is a brainstorming get together.

Congratulations, and great showing for the Robert Burns Dinner. It was a grand affair and from what I saw and heard an enjoyable time was had by all.

FYI, from what I have been told we are in the black on the Robert Burns dinner. I want to personally thank all who came, and made this the affair it turned out to be.

A ST. ANDREW KNIGHT'S CREED
           BY WARBARD
I AM KNOWN AS ONE OF SIXTY-THREE,
WHO BECAME THE KILTED FLEUR-DE-LIS,
I AM LED TO BATTLE BY HOLY LIGHT,
AND BY DE BRUCE'S DECREE, I AM A KNIGHT.
OF WHOM DO I SERVE?

Greetings,

On behalf of Knight Commander Jeff St.Onge of the Knights of St. Andrew - Valley of Richmond, I bring you fraternal greetings and warm regards. It is the desire of the Richmond Knights of St. Andrew to establish correspondence with all KSA Chapters in the hopes of exchanging ideas & knowledge and to build Masonic relations.

Since its inception in 1993 in Tulsa, OK, each KSA Chapters have been beholden to their Scottish Rite Valleys and as a result, each Chapter has its differences in how it functions, and yet shares a common bond within the 29th degree of the Scottish Rite and a desire to serve their Valley.  This uniqueness is a strength and has much to offer with regards to knowledge but more important is our bond in the desire to serve our brethren.

Therefore, I am stretching forth my hand in fellowship and brotherly love and hope that we can make our Masonic universe just a little bit closer in our correspondence.  And much as the Templars at Bannockburn, we are all one of the sixty-three; it does not matter which one.

We are all Knights of St. Andrew and Scottish Rite Masons.  Thank you and I await your reply.

In Service,

Shelby L Chandler, 32°
Chief Knight Rappahannock Region

Fellow Knight's,

It is once again that time of the year when we must elect our Offficers for the upcoming year. So with this in mind I request your attendance at the Lodge of Perfection meeting on the 19th of November, 2008. As with ever election process it is only as good as your vote can make it. Please plan to attend.

Also, once again it dues time for the both your Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite and Knight's of Saint Andrew. Brethren, it is of the utmost importance that you maintain your Scottish Rite dues. For without you there will be no Scottish Rite, and the domino effect of this is beyond scope. Please maintain your dues.

The dues for the Knight's of Saint Andrew are still a bargain. 32° Masons pay only $10.00, KCCH and 33° pay only $5.00. I request you maintain your membership in the KSA. The KSA is a service organization for your Scottish Rite. We help perform at functions, so that other Scottish Rite members may enjoy the function. Please remit your dues in care of The Scottish Rite Masonic Center, 332 South Centennial Mall, Lincoln, NE. 68508. For KSA dues make check payable to Knight's of Saint Andrew, for Scottish Rite dues make your check payable as requested on the dues notice you have or will be receiving.

Thank you brethren

New Law Authorizes Veterans' Salutes during National Anthem

WASHINGTON (Oct. 30, 2008) -- Veterans and active-duty military not in uniform can now render the military-style hand salute during the playing of the national anthem, thanks to changes in federal law that took effect this month.

"The military salute is a unique gesture of respect that marks those who have served in our nation's armed forces," said Secretary of Veterans Affairs Dr. James B. Peake. "This provision allows the application of that honor in all events involving our nation's flag."

The new provision improves upon a little known change in federal law last year that authorized veterans to render the military-style hand salute during the raising, lowering or passing of the flag, but it did not address salutes during the national anthem.  Last year's provision also applied to members of the armed forces while not in uniform.

Traditionally, members of the nation's veterans service organizations have rendered the hand-salute during the national anthem and at events involving the national flag while wearing their organization's official head-gear.

The most recent change, authorizing hand-salutes during the national anthem by veterans and out-of-uniform military personnel, was sponsored by Sen. Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma, an Army veteran.  It was included in the Defense Authorization Act of 2009, which President Bush signed on Oct. 14.

The earlier provision authorizing hand-salutes for veterans and out-of-uniform military personnel during the raising, lowering or passing of the flag, was contained in the National Defense Authorization Act of 2008, which took effect Jan. 28, 2008.

Brethren,

Saint Andrew is widely known as the Patron Saint of Scotland, and Saint Andrew's Day is celebrated by Scottish around the world on 30th Of November.

The flag of Scotland is the cross of Saint Andrew, also known as the Saltire, and is widely displayed as a symbol of National Identity.

Brother Knight's,

The following is the Reunion Schedule for the 1st of November, 2008. Take due notice there of and govern yourselves acordingly. If you have any questions related to the Reunion please contact Brother Bruce Wood, our General Secretary.
