Friends:

Thought I would try to update you on my health issues. As you know I have been having problems since last November. Last Friday I went to the KU Medical Center in Kansas City for a pre-op visit with my doctor. I have a new doctor in addition to the one I have been seeing. To make a long story short I am still having problems with a fistula (hole) between my bladder and rectum. To solve this problem I will have surgery on October 6th at the KU Med Center. It will be about 4 hours long and will involve 4 surgeons to repair the problem. I will be there about 3 or 4 days afterwards and then can go home. Recovery time looks like about 4 weeks. Unfortunately one of the possible side effects will be a temporary chlostomy which I will have for about 3 to 6 months before they reverse it. This is a much more involved surgery and I just hope my mental and physical side can hold out. It has been a roller coaster ride for the last year. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. Just keep up the good thoughts.

Companions and Sir Knights:

I talked to Jay Speck this afternoon and Sheila's heart surgery went well. There were no leaks and the heart was doing fine. They tried to take her off the ventilator but her lungs could not handle the stress and they had to put her back on the ventilator for support. At the time I talked to Jay her blood pressure was low and they were working to correct the problem. He did ask me to thank you who have sent cards, flowers and plants and those of you who have kept Sheila in your prayers and thoughts. I will keep you updated as I hear from Jay.

Friends,

I have just been informed that Sheila had a major heart attack last evening.  She is in stable condition at Clarkson Medical Center in Omaha.  According to the report that I received, Sheila had a quintuple (5 vessel) by-pass.  Four were 100% blocked and she'd had a 25% heart function.

Please keep her and Jay in your thoughts and prayers!

> So we must weave in patience and leave to Him the rest.

> Not till the loom is silent and the shuttles cease to fly

This from Our Grand Marshal, W.B. Joe McBride on Tuesday , June 26th, 2007

Greetings everyone,

    As most of you are aware, we will have a cornerstone ceremony in Lincoln on July 7th. This will be for the new Parole Board Building which is a John Vermass project. This is being sponsored by Hickman Lodge and Tabula Rasa Lodge. We will meet at Hickman Lodge, 4641 Cooper Ave in Lincoln for receiving of the Grand Master at 10:30am. A light lunch (finger food) will follow at the lodge. We will then proceed to the building for a practice at 12:30 with the ceremony starting at 2pm. The building is located on the east side of 10th St. and Pioneers Blvd. We will probably have a grand procession.

    Grand Lodge officers please let me know if there is any problem attending. Reg has already indicated that it is too far for him to drive so he will not be attending. I will ask for a volunteer from the past Grand Masters or will appoint brother Watts to fill his position. Past Grand Masters please let me know your wishes on this.

    Thanks for all of your help in getting these ceremonies rolling and let's all work to make a great showing in Lincoln.

 Fraternally,

    Joe McBride
    Grand Marshal

To all Knights Templar:

I t promises to be a very Hot Saturday. Uniform of the day will be summer uniform. Bring Swords and Belt with White Cap. The Shrine Legion of Honor will be the Color Guard.

It is with much sympathy that I report the death of Companion and Sir Knight Roger Galusha. Roger passed to the Supreme Architect on April 25, 2007 in Mullen, Nebraska. His wife Joy was with him at the time. Roger was a Past Illustrious Grand Master of the Council in 2004-05, Past Grand Commander in 1996, Grand Representative to Maryland in Grand Chapter, Grand Representative to Ontario, Canada in Council and Grand Representative to Illinois in Commandery. He belonged to Red Cross of Constantine, Coeur de Lion Conclave, KYCH Sir Galahad Priory #7, Holy Royal Arch Knights Templar Priests, Sangre de Cristo Tabernacle  and Knight Masons, Holyrood Council 61, just to name a few. We got there at 11 am and in five minutes they had her in therapy sessions, which I attended. She got a good work-out and then to lunch, which they furnished me as well (no charge). After lunch they took her immediately to get a bath and then processed her in, getting her room arranged, etc. I will take her a TV tomorrow and get her a phone hooked up too. They don't furnish those, but the cost is a lot less than the hospital per day! So far, she says she really likes the people and that is half the battle. Oh yes, she will also be getting her hair done this week for the first time since December!

> Betty is still in the rehab hospital in Lincoln and I got called back there again last night because she had to have an CT scan and chest x-ray, which necessitated her being transported from Madonna Rehab back to Bryan Emergency room. They didn't find anything more than they already had, so they took her back to Madonna. She has needed four units of blood this week and they can't tell me why her hemoglobin count keeps going down! That was the big reason for the CT scan. She is still having trouble breathing when off the ventilator and has fluid in the lungs, hence the chest x-ray. I'm beginning to think she will not be coming home anytime soon, but she keeps saying she wants to get out of there and come home, so that is a good thing. By the way, make sure you have good insurance coverage. The bills I have received so far total over $244,000, and that does not include any doctor charges or Rehab facility costs! > Betty sat up in a chair yesterday for the first time since Jan 3rd, and stayed in it until she had to use the bedpan. She still has diarrhea and the G.I. doctor came in yesterday and said the bowel scoping they did Monday showed a section of the large intestine that appeared to have lost some blood supply, probably from the extremely low blood pressure she had for a few days. They will keep an eye on it, but the implication is that if it doesn't clear up soon, surgery will be required to remove that section. I also didn't know that they had been keeping her heart rate down with medication and the cardiologist told me yesterday that they were going to start weaning her off of that and that basically all was well with her heart. They just didn't want it beating 100 times a minute for extended periods. It has been in the middle 50s to lower 60s for several days now and her BP has been fine as well.
>
> She has been breathing on her own for two days without machine assistance and just a bit of added oxygen, so they plan to unhook her from the machine entirely today and put a valve in the tracheotomy tube so she can talk. She still will be tube fed until they can get the bowel problem cleared up. She remains in the ICU, but her status is now what they call progressive care. Some hospitals call it intermediate care. There has been no talk of dialysis for over a week now, so I think we are past that part of the problem...

> Latest on Betty. They did a tracheotomy on Betty this morning and she is much more comfortable now than when she had a tube in her mouth 24/7. She will be able to talk as soon as they put a valve into the line and teach her how to use it. She has to shut off the breathing when talking and is not quite ready for that yet. Her temperature has fallen a couple of degrees as well, now running around 99.5°.
>
> This noon they did a CT scan of the bowels and were able to use contrast this time because of her improved condition. It showed a thickening of a section of bowel which may be caused by infection (as in colitis) or there may be another problem with it. Tomorrow morning she is scheduled for a colonoscopy type exam of the bowel to determine the cause and subsequent treatment. She has diarrhea constantly now, but otherwise is doing very well. (Hooked up to a waste tube for that.) Kidneys are working, BP and heart rate are good, and breathing is easier; though she still has pneumonia, it is clearing up more each day. So once the diarrhea is under control and she is taking nourishment without problems, she can move to a rehab facility. Still don't know when that may be, but she is writing short notes now and is alert.

She has a staph infection causing the pneumonia (surprise, surprise since she has been in a hospital since Dec 24th). Today she had a sudden spike in temperature from normal at noon to over 102 around 3 pm. So they drew blood to see if they can tell what is causing that new problem. It seems that one thing gets better and something else pops up. I'm still hoping that she will pull through, but she is pretty sick. They did start feeding her through a tube directly into her stomach tonight to see if the gut will start working again. It has been shut down since last week about Thursday. She is not responding much to our voices or to the nurses' request to squeeze their fingers, etc. She continues on every other day dialysis and has a breathing tube yet. They took it out for a while yesterday and she relapsed in about an hour.

> No phone calls overnight, so Betty made it through the night again. Actually, there is some encouraging news and two not so good things to report.
>
> Her lungs seem to be clearing somewhat and they are planning to pull the breathing tube today if all else goes well. The dialysis yesterday was excellent and the machine removed 3 KG of waste from her blood. At 2 lbs per quart of water that would seem to be over three quarts! A huge amount to me. Her blood pressure and heart rates are improving, but she was still on the medication to keep her BP up, especially during the dialysis. They are trying to get her off of that too and are giving her quite a bit less than they were. She is still heavily sedated and does not open her eyes when we talk with her.
>
> The kidney output is still quite low, so dialysis will continue today. Of more concern to the doctor last evening is her lack of bowel activity. They are concerned that her belly seems to be tender and somewhat hard so they will do another CT scan today. Since they cannot inject the contrast dye normally used, the scans are harder to read, but reviewing the ultra sound and the other CT scan seems to indicate a thickening in one section of the bowel. So the concern there is possible necrosis (dying) of a bowel section, which would necessitate immediate surgery if confirmed. They are taking frequent blood tests to watch for signs of that. In her present condition, they don't think she could tolerate surgery.
>
> So we wait and pray. Thanks again to all who have called, visited and written. I tell Betty about each communication, and although she does not respond I think that at some level she is hearing what we say, so I keep telling her how I love her and what  else is happening.

From Fred Wyant on Friday, January 5th, 2007

We took Betty to Bryan LGH East in Lincoln, NE yesterday morning with renal failure, possible pneumonia, and blood gases, etc. all out of whack. She almost passed away two or three times yesterday and they had to delay dialysis until last evening late because her blood pressure was too low to support it and they couldn't make it come up.
She did stabilize somewhat after the dialysis and they were starting another dialysis session as I left to come home this morning. I just arrived here a few minutes ago and will head back there as soon as I get all the calls made that I need to do. Family are here excepting one son driving in with family from California. They should be here in the morning. She has some kidney function now, but no where near enough. They think the kidneys may recover if they get the other stuff cleared up. She either has fluid in her lungs from the kidney problems or she has pneumonia now. They are treating it as if it is pneumonia. She has also developed tenderness in her belly as evidenced by her flinching when they press the bowel area. As soon as this dialysis is done, they will do a CT scan of her head for possible stroke and of her belly. She also has an infection somewhere and they have cultures working to figure out where.

So there is a lot going on, and I may not be home much for a few days. I am headed back to the hospital as soon as I get this email out to family and friends.

Keep praying for her, please.

Betty is on the way to Brian LGH East as I write and I am leaving immediately after sending this. Her kidneys shut down completely last night and her blood pressure went down to the 40/22 range. They put a tube into her lungs to force breathe for her and they got her BP up so they could transport her. She will go on dialysis as soon as they can get her on it there.

                                                              An Historical Memorial

From the Grand Chapter, Royal Arch Masons of Nebraska, Office of the High Priest, Bloomfield, Nebraska, November 29th, 1919. To the Officers and Companions of all Chapters of Royal Arch Masonry within our jurisdiction, and to all Others to whom these Presents may come and concern:

Dear Companion: It is with sadness and feelings of deep regret that I am constrained to announce the death of Most Excellent Companion James Tyler, Past Grand High Priest, Born in Husk, Mommouthshire, England, September 26th, 1844, Died at his home in Lincoln, Nebraska, November 1st, 1919. Companion Tyler came to the United States in 1870, and after spending short periods of time in New York City, St. Louis, and Omaha, finally selected Lincoln as his home, and lived there for many years. He received the degrees of Ancient Craft Masonry in St. Johns Lodge #25, Omaha,in 1871-1872, and demitted in 1890, affiliated with Lincoln Lodge #19, Lincoln, Feb. 3rd, 1891. He was Master of the Lodge in 1885 and 1886. He received the degrees of Royal Arch Masonry in 1872-1873 in Omaha Chapter #1, and demitted three years later to affiliate with Lincoln Chapter #6 in 1877.He was High Priest of the Chapter from 1886 - 1889, and was elected Secretary in 1910, in which capacity he was serving at the time of his death. He was elected and installed Grand High Priest December 11th, 1913 and held that office until Dec. 17, 1914. The degrees of Cryptic Masonry were conferred on Companion Tyler in Omaha Council #1 in 1874, and ten years later he affiliated with Lincoln Council #4, which he served as Master in 1893-1894. After filling the minor stations in the Grand Council he was elected and installed as Grand Master Dec. 15th, 1897, remaining in office until Dec.14th, 1898. Companion Tyler received the Orders of Knighthood in Mount Moriah Commandery #4 K.T. in April 1877, and was commander for the year 1882. He presided over the Grand Commandery K.T. of Nebraska as Grand Commander from April 18th, 1912, to April 3rd, 1913. Most Excellent Companion Tyler held the highest offices within the gift of three of the Grand Bodies of Nebraska, and always filled these high places with dignity, marked fitness, and ability, at all times manifesting an active interest in masonry. He had attended twenty nine sessions of our Grand Chapter, and was always a conspicuous figure, commanding the attention and respect of the companions. Our Most Excellent Companion wa also prominent in the social, business, and official life of Lincoln, where he had lived and been a dominant and influential citizen for many years. He had the good will and esteem of all whom he dealt, because of his steadfast integrity in all his transactions with his fellow man, adhering to the admonition so prominent Masonry "Nothing but good work--true work--square work, is wanted for the building of the temple", meaning,of course the temple of this spiritual life, of good character, of honest worth among men and Masons everwhere. As a token of respect to the memory of this Most Excellent Companion, Past Grand High Priest James Tyler, it is hereby ordered that this memorial be read at the first regular convocation after it has been received, and  that the alters and jewels of the chapters be draped in mourning for a period of ninety days. And it is further ordered that a copy of this memorial be attached to the minutes of each chapter. Truly and fraternally, William D. Funk, Grand High Priest. ( It was attested by Francis E. White, Grand Secretary, with the Seal of the Grand Chapter. This memorial was received into the Archives Nov. 29, 1919. Also please note that Brother, Companion, Sir Knight, and Noble James Tyler also served as the Second Potentate of Sesostris Temple in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1889,1891, 1892,and 1893. Brother Tyler and his Sons Masonic History spaned most of the early Nebraska Masonic History).

THE WORLD NEEDS MEN

...who cannot be bought;

...whose word is their bond;

...who put character above wealth;

...who are larger than their vocations;

...who do not hesitate to take chances;

...who will loose their identity in a crowd;

...who will be honest in small things as in great things;

...who will make no compromise with wrong;

...who ambitions are not confined to their own selfish desires;

...who will not say they do it "because everyone does it;"

...who are true to their friends through good report and evil report, in adversity as well as prosperity;

...who do not believe that shrewdness and cunning are the best qualities for winning success;

...who are not ashamed to stand for the truth when it is unpopular;

...who can say "no" with emphasis, although the rest of the world say "yes"

GOD, MAKE ME THIS KIND OF MAN.

Thank you, to all our friends, for your love and comfort

Brethren, Companions, Sir Knights, and Fratres:
Some of you are already aware of the huge fire this afternoon in York and that it totally destroyed York Lodge #56 AF&AM. At least no one was seriously injured fighting the fire, so far as I know at this point.

The entrance to the lodge is the aluminum door on the right. The four windows that are above it is the lounge and the dining room. It appears that the fire wall on the left is holding somewhat.

Betty and I arrived home about noon today from my official visit last night to the York Rite Council in McCook. Shortly after 1 pm I received a call from our Junior Warden who informed me there was smoke coming from the building east of the lodge and that the fire department might need to get into our part of the contiguous building. I immediately walked the three blocks to the lodge and gave my keys to the fire chief. There was quite a lot of smoke coming from the second floor windows at the east end of the block and the lodge is west of the center of the block. At that time, it looked as if the fire department might get it under control fairly soon.

As time passed, however, it became apparent that our one ladder truck was not up to the job by itself and a third and then fourth alarm went out for help. Eventually, four ladder trucks arrived, one each from Seward, David City, and Grand Island. Other departments also arrived to assist but by 3 pm it was evident that the lodge itself was becoming involved, the fire having bypassed two firewalls to get into the lodge proper. For a while, it looked as if the whole block would go, but the double firewall between the lodge and the old York College building to the west held and with two trucks pouring water down that firewall on the lodge side, they stopped it there.

From what I could see from back of the police firelines, it appears that the fire never reached below the second floor, at least at our Lodge end of the fire. Of course, the Lodge is on the second floor and when I finally left to come home around 7 pm it was certain that it is a total loss. I'm also sure the three businesses on the ground floors will be unable to continue there because of all of the smoke and water damage, even if the fire didn't destroy them. We do have insurance on the lodge and contents, which will go a ways toward helping obtain and furnish a replacement building, but there is no replacing all of the historical and priceless artifacts that it contained, including many of the lodge records, York Rite sets and costumes, etc.

I will be looking for a temporary location in which to hold our meetings until a new building can be completed. I expect to have a location for the MSRICF meeting next Thursday which I will announce at the dinner that evening at the Chances-R Restaurant. The Red Cross of Constantine meeting schedule there for November 11 will also be relocated and an effort made to inform all concerned of the new location.

This Lodge Building had served York Lodge #56 A.F.&A.M. and the York, Nebraska Community for 120 years in the same building which has to be some record. At the bottom of the Blue Lodge page is the dedication of York Lodge #56 A.F.&A.M accomplished around October 15th, 1886, 120 years almost to the day. We all will miss the old lodge very much.

Utica Lodge #96 has offered their lodge for our use and I am sure that Stromsburg and Geneva will do the same. We may find it useful to take them up on their offer, especially for degree work, which we expect to be forthcoming soon as we have a candidate to vote on in our regular communication on October 31. I will ask the Grand Lodge for permission to hold our Communications in other secure locations.

We wanted a new building, but not in this way or even at this time; however, the choice is no longer ours. Now, we need to gird up our loins, to use a biblical phrase, and get to work. If anyone has suggestions to offer for the good of the Lodge, please let me know.

Master, York Lodge #56

FIRE DESTROYS YORK, NEBRASKA MASONIC CENTER

By John F. Dale Grand Commander, Knights Templar of Nebraska

As you may already know, a davastating fire on Friday, October 20th, 2006, destroyed the building and contents of the Masonic Center in downtown York, Nebraska, the home of York Lodge #56, A.F.& A.M, Solomon Chapter #33, Royal Arch Masons, and Joppa Commandery #17, Knights Templar. Neighboring buildings and businesses also suffered major damages. The fire appears to have started in the business below the Lodge, but the fire's cause is still under investigation.

Immediate plans are being explored to locate and arrange a temporary location, which may be used by the Masonic Bodies of York. Long range plans for a new home for these bodies will be developed later.

In addition to the need for another meeting space, It is clear that the York Rite Bodies will need to replace many items of furniture and equipment.

At this early stage, as Grand Commander and Grand High Priest, we are asking you to take inventory and consider how you might be able to assist our Brothers, Companions, and Sir Knights in York. As I have visited around the state, I have observed that many of our Masonic Centers have aprons, Royal Arch robes, swords, chapeaus, etc. which might be shared.

Do not send anything now. I am simply writing to make you aware of the situation. The bodies in York will make an assessment of what they will need, and further communication will be coming to you so you can determine specifically what you could do.

In the meantime, please hold these good Masons of York in your prayers, concern and fraternal love.

Signed:

John F. Dale, Grand Commander

Maynard Tatelman, Grand High Priest

> At 12:23 AM today, October 9, 2006 my Dad, William H. Koon, passed to

> including Andrea, My Mother, Ron Wingfield, and Elizabeth and I were
> at his side as he passed, and I'm sure he's in a better place without
> pain, and able to be mobile.  I can ask for no more.

> I know many of you have asked about his condition, and I will be
> forever grateful.  But I know he IS in a better place.  He will be
> cremated, and his ashes scattered on the farms he loved.  A memorial
> service is planned, but details are incomplete at this time.

NORTH CENTRAL DEPARTMENT CONFERENCE FOR 2006

THE GENERAL GRAND COUNCIL OF

CRYPTIC MASONS INTERNATIONAL

Barnes A. Sharitt, Jr.

434 12th Ave So.

So. St. Paul, MN 55075

August 3, 2006

Dear Companion:

The 2006 North Central York Rite Conference will be at the Ramada Inn -- Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center, 4th and Commercial St, Waterloo, IA, on October 27-29, 2006. Their telephone number is (319) 233-7560 or (800) 272 - 6232, and the internet address is www.ramadawaterloo.com. Reservation details, including meals, the tour reservation, and accommodation information, are on the attachments to this letter.

On Friday, Oct. 27, at 1:00 PM a special tour of the John Deere plant 3500 E. Donald St. in east Waterloo is scheduled. On Friday evening at 5:30-6:30 PM, a lasagna supper will served at the Masonic Lodge, located at E. Park and Mulberry St. in Waterloo (two blocks northwest of the Ramada Inn). Afterwards, the hospitality room, at 7:30 PM, will be the site of fellowship, with plenty of ice cream, and conversation.

On Saturday morning after a period of introductions the Conference will split into the Grand Commandery and the Grand Council/Grand Chapter sessions. The General Grand Council presentations featured at the session are:

a) Tom Walton, the Illustrious Grand Master of the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters of Wisconsin participated in the development of a long range plan to assist in the growth of Cryptic Masonry there. Last year he provided the conference attendees an overview of the plan; this year he will select an area of the plan in which he will go into greater detail. This presentation last year brought forth 20 minutes of comment and discussion.

b) Charles W. Nelson, Executive Director of the Minnesota Masonic Historical Society and Museum, and past Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery of Knights Templar of Minnesota, will present a presentation on the identification of historical artifacts, and how to preserve them. This is an area in which he has particular expertise, having been the Architect for the State of Minnesota and lead for the identification of historical sites and artifacts for them.

On Saturday afternoon, the Conference will split into separate Grand Council and Grand Chapter sessions. Each of the participating Grand Councils is invited to share significant events that are occurring within their jurisdictions. From traveling within the region, each Grand Council and Grand Chapter has an accomplishment that can be shared with the larger group. This will enable each person to provide more effective leadership to the body whom he serves. Also, events and programs of the General Grand Council of Cryptic Masons International will be discussed.

You are invited to attend the 2006 North Central York Rite Conference on Oct. 27-29. It will be a time for fun, fellowship, and finding out what works and how it can be implemented 'back home'. Please feel free to copy this data and distribute it to whomever you wish. Copies of this announcement and the reservations data can be accessed at www.yorkrite.com/events.htm under the column 'info' by the North Central Conference. I look forward to seeing you there.

Sincerely,

Barnes A. Sharitt, Jr.

To  Everyone Who Knew Her:

Coye Carter, Wife of Sir Knight. Edwin Carter, KYCH, Past Comander of Mount Moriah Commandery #4, Illustrious Master of Lincoln Council #4, High Priest of Lincoln Chapter #6, and Worshipful Master of Bennett Lodge #94, Passed away on Friday, December 9th, 2005. Funeral Services will be held at Lincoln Memorial on Tuesday, December 13th at 2:00 for Coye.

I can remember back, about four years ago, when Coye and Ed  would not miss a meeting of York Rite. Ed would attend the business meetings of York Rite and Coye who was a member of the Social Order of the Beauscent would attend hers, both always participating in our Pot Lucks. They would never miss a Grand York Rite Annual Session.

This from Dona Hurst; At one time earlier in her life, she was a strong member of Campfire. She also enjoyed going with Ed in his camper and spending much time camping with their many camp organizations in which they belonged. As she once put it, " she enjoyed seeing the world".

Coye will be missed by the many who new her.

 (Edwin is also a dual member of Liberty Lodge #300).

 This TRIBUTE was written by Lady Diane Becker

for the 2004 - 2005 Grand Session

You could roam the earth and never find

Finer Men Than the York Rite kind.

They've organized with hopes and dreams,

To rid mankind of disease unseen.

Fraternal brothers, through and through,

They're seldom known for the deeds they do.

Their smiles are warm, their handshakes firm,

Their voice brings hope to those concerned.

Their works have helped their fellow man

In ways unique to the common man

And we, their Ladies are truly blessed

To be loved by them...

For they are the best.

The official name of this foundation is the York Rite of Nebraska Foundation, and it is managed by the Budget and Finance Committee. Only the interest from the Foundations investments can be used—never the principal.

Contributions to the Foundation could be a way for members of Nebraska York Rite Bodies to honor the memory or to recognize a relative, friend, or fellow Mason. It should be noted that donations to the Foundation are not tax deductible. The name of the donor and its recipient would be mentioned In the Nebraska section of the Royal Arch and the Knight Templar magazines.

It is the hope of the York Rite grand officers in all three bodies that you will remember the York Rite of Nebraska Foundation when considering a donation for a worthwhile cause. Checks should be made payable to York Rite of Nebraska Foundation and sent to York Rite of Nebraska, Grand Secretary-Recorder, RO. Box 292, Fremont, NE 68026-0292.

                   York Rite Fourth Annual Nebraska Masonic Leadership Banquet

The Gala evening of September 22nd, 2001, was started off with the playing of the Star Spangled Banner and afterward the Pledge of Allegiance to our flag. A very fine Invocation was given by our Eminent Grand Junior Warden  S. K. Rev. John Dale, of the Grand Commandery of Knights Templar of Nebraska. Over 50 members of the Leaders of the Masonic Fraternity, from Blue Lodge to Scottish and York Rite Bodies and Order of Eastern Star, Job's Daughters, DeMolay, and other orders enjoyed a fine dinner under the direction of our Secretary - Recorder R. E. S.K. Jay Speck and Shila with the help of the new owner of the New World Inn.

After a fine dinner, R. E. Sir Knight, Dr. James Karnegis of the Grand Commandery of Knights Templar of Nebraska gave the opening remarks and introduced the dignitaries present. He then introduced the Grand Master, Phillip Lorenzen, who gave a very fine address. He mentioned the leaders of the beginning of our country and how their values inspired the values we hold dear and how masonry has kept timeless these values from its inception.

R. E. Sir Knight Jim then suprised the group by showing a video of our Nation in a "Look Backward to 1945". This was primarly a video of the end of World War Two, Roosevelt and Truman Administration, and how America recovered from the War. Sir Knight Jim then wished everyone a safe return home.

Greetings, From Dave Watts on September 18, 2005

Seward Rededication was a great success!!

I spent some time estimating the crowd, (during
the speaker from hell's speech), and there were
somewhere around 1000 people present for the
dedication. It was probably the single best
opportunity this year to make Masonry visible
in one of our communities. Present were
State Senator Elaine Stuhr, Lt. Governor Rick
Sheehy and U.S. Rep. Fortenberry.

I wanted to especially thank the Masons from Seward
County and surrounding areas, we had a great
turnout, and also Omaha Calvary #1 who provided
the honor guard for the procession. Very impressive
job by all.

Also thanks to Past Grand Masters Jerry Rittenburg,
Jim Brown and Phil Lorenzen as well as Tom Spunaugle
for filling in as officers.

Don't forget to mark you calendars for the next
cornerstone, which will be at the Hospital in Superior
on SATURDAY, October 15th. Tentatively set for
2:00 P.M. and yes it is the same day as the Youth
Conference.

Thanks again,

Dave Watts
