DR. FREDERICK EICHE CHAPTER ORDER OF DEMOLAY
Genesis Dr. Frederick Eiche Chapter of Lincoln, Nebraska was instituted May 21st, 1977. In September of 1974, East Lincoln Lodge #210 approved the sponsoring of a DeMolay Chapter. The next few months were spent in obtaining individuals to serve as advisors and members in the Chapter. The name of "Dr. Frederich Eiche Chapter" was chosen for the organization, and on January 6th, 1975, the Lodge was authorized to proceed with organization with Dale Babcock as chairman of the advisory board. In January, 1977, after many false starts, Dad Darrel Ihde, Dad Advisor, and Dad Don Kychekhahn, - Scribe - Treasurer, managed to get the boys organized. Gail Adams was elected acting Master Councilor. Lincoln Chapter helped in giving the boys the degree work. Fremont Chapter gave us their old Initiatory Degree and DeMolay Degree robes and costumes. On May 21st, 1977, Dr. Frederick Eiche Chapter received their Letters Temporary. The priory provided the installing officers with Louis Hurst as Installing Master Councilor. Gail Adams was installed as Master Councilor. The Mother's Club was installed by Mom Dona Hurst. Mom Belva Adams was installed as president. The Advisory Council was installed by Dad Clayton Hughes of Bellevue and Dad Eugene Jorgensen was installed as Chapter Dad. Our Master Councilor crowned our Chapter Sweetheart, Kathy Marker and Dad Walter Miller, Executive Officer in Nebraska presented our Letters Temporary. On May 12th, 1979, Eiche Chapter received its charter. The chapter put on the degree work lead beautifully by Dad Michael Shipley our ritual advisor. Past Master Councilor Gail Adams, as Master of Ceremonies and Dad Walter Miller presented our Charter. Under our new charter, Mark Schmidt was installed as our first Master Councilor, Dad Jorgensen as Chapter Advisor, Dad Ihde as Chair of Advisory Council, Mom Jeanette Schmidt as President of the Mother's Club, and Lori Nichelson was Chapter Sweetheart. Master Councilors who received their PMC/MSA are Gail Adams, Allan Reid, and Blaine Hester. Stuart Erickson was the first Eiche Chapter DeMolay to receive his LCC. As of 1980, Eiche Chapter has been a very active chapter. They have had members attend every state function since 1975, and met all Obligatory Days, had fund raising projects, prospect parties and dances. Our annual Day at the Lake has always been a success. Their first two years went over the 100% goal in membership. They were then in the process of redecorating their Chapter Room with new paint and carpet and getting their own room to hang their robes. They have come a long way since 1975, and 1980 will be their first year as a DeMolay Chapter, and we hope, the beginning of many more years for our Chapter and DeMolay. DR. FREDERICK EICHE Dr. Frederick Eiche, ("Doc" to the DeMolays) had recently become deputy for the Grand Council of the Order of DeMolay for the State of Nebraska. The friendly name of "Doc" is a token of comradeship and affection between him and thousands of boys. His constant and unfailing consideration have made him the confidant of hundreds of boys in their most intimate problems. Dr. Eiche has devoted himself to boys and has for many years been recognized in the community as a man of outstanding qualities for his work. When Lincoln Chapter was organized September 25th, 1920, he was at once nominated by the Scottish Rite Body in Lincoln (Delta Lodge of Perfection Number 4) and appointed by the Grand Council as chairman of the advisory council. He has served as Lincoln Chapter Dad for nearly 15 years. This DeMolay leader is a graduate in the class of 1903, of the Northwestern University College of Medicine. He is a member of both the York Rite and Scottish Rite Bodies and one of the founders of Epsilon Chapter of Delta Sigma Lamda fraternity at the University of Nebraska. In his new work as deputy for the Grand Council, "Doc's" qualities for leadership will have the wide range that DeMolay in Nebraska provides. (Written by Meredith K.
